
Susan Higgins '85
Vice President
Susan Marchand Higgins has spent a lifetime actively engaged with educational organizations at all levels. Her professional career included working as the editorial assistant at the Harvard Law Review and producing the course catalog at Eastern Connecticut State University.
After relocating to San Francisco, Susan began her volunteer career at Saint James Preschool as treasurer and organized its annual fundraiser. She continued to be engaged in her children's schools serving on the boards of their Parent Teachers Organizations in several capacities including president at the elementary and high school levels. When her children moved onto college, so did Susan's volunteer efforts. Previously an advisor for Tri Delta, she became a Collegiate District Officer, overseeing the operations of three chapters. She then moved onto Collegiate Chapter Coordinator, responsible for thirteen chapters. While a member of the University of Vermont Foundation Board, Susan served on the Development Committee and as the Board's representative for the Alumni Awards Committee.
Susan also chaired the Search Committee for the University of Vermont Foundation President and CEO. Susan earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and political science from the University of Vermont in 1985 and her Master's in publishing and professional writing from Emerson College in 1991. She and her husband, Chris '84, live in New York City. Their daughter, Catherine graduated from UVM in 2017.
