Julie Scholes
Larner College of Medicine Class of 2026
Julie is a member of the Larner College of Medicine Class of 2026. She grew up in Charlottesville, Virginia, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Neuroscience with a minor in Latin American Studies from Bowdoin College. While at Bowdoin, she rowed competitively and served as the team captain her senior year, and was an administrative volunteer at Oasis Free Clinics, the local clinic offering comprehensive medical and dental care to the community.
Before medical school, Julie worked as a medical assistant and patient care coordinator at an independent abortion clinic in Whitefish, Montana, gaining experience in reproductive healthcare and advocacy. While in Montana, she also got to explore her love of the outdoors, learning how to ski and spending summers hiking in Glacier National Park.
At Larner College of Medicine, Julie is a member of the Wellness Committee, helping organize student-led wellness initiatives including the student Ski and Ride night at Bolton Valley, and Student Performance. She was selected for a year-long Schweitzer Fellowship, collaborating with Pride Center to support access to gender-affirming healthcare.
Outside of medicine, Julie has spent her time getting to know Vermont through athletics, coaching an age-group swim team during her pre-clinical years, training for a triathlon and trail races, and sharing many days with friends on mountain bikes and skis.
