Margaret "Greta" Spottswood, M.D.'11, M.P.H.

VTCPAP, Medical Director

Greta Spottswood, M.D., M.P.H., (she/they) is a child psychiatrist who has been practicing in Vermont since 2017. She completed her medical training at the University of Vermont and her child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Cambridge Health Alliance. For seven years, she worked at a federally qualified health center, where she supported primary care providers in their work with younger patients, facilitated a trauma group series, and was immersed in the work of supporting patients in navigating the system of care. This period was one of deep learning and professional growth, shaped by the meaningful relationships she built with patients and colleagues alike.

Dr. Spottswood has published extensively on the integration of mental health care within primary care settings. She is the pediatric medical director and a founder of the Vermont Consultation and Psychiatry Access Program (VTCPAP). Through VTCPAP, she collaborates with fellow child psychiatrists and social workers to equip primary care providers with the tools and confidence to deliver timely, effective mental health care to children and families across Vermont. This innovative, population-based model helps address individual needs more quickly, easing demand on higher-acuity services and increasing access to care. Driven by a commitment to systemic improvement, Dr. Spottswood continues to partner with stakeholders to strengthen Vermont's mental health policies and infrastructure - demonstrating our state's commitment to the well-being of our young people. She remains profoundly grateful for the mentorship, collaboration, and inspiration she has received from colleagues, trainees, and the families she serves.
