Lydia Bates '14

Lydia Bates graduated from UVM in 2014 with a degree in political science and minors in studio art and history. She then earned a Master of Arts degree from American University's Ethics, Peace and Global Affairs program in Washington, DC.

Since 2017, she has worked for the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) in Alabama and Georgia. Across numerous positions at SPLC, Lydia's work has focused on monitoring and researching far-right extremism in the US and building resources to bolster young people's resilience to manipulation by these ideologies.

Lydia lives in Atlanta, GA with her partner and their very good boy, Wiggles.
