Chair
Rob Brennan is Chair of the Board of Directors for Greenbacker Renewable Energy Company, LLC, an energy transition focused investment manager and independent power producer with approximately $1.8 billion of assets under management and 2.6 GWs of clean energy capacity.
Prior to Greenbacker, Rob was a Senior Managing Director at Guggenheim Partners and head of the Commercial Real Estate Finance Group. Before working at Guggenheim, Rob was a Managing Director at Credit Suisse, where he ran the Global Commercial Real Estate Finance Business. Rob joined Credit Suisse in 2000 as a result of Credit Suisse’s acquisition of Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenerette (DLJ), where he ran the commercial mortgage trading desk. Prior to DLJ, Rob held senior positions at UBS, LF Rothschild, and began his career in Investment Banking at EF Hutton in 1983. Rob is a board member of Student Sponsor Partners (SSP), a uniquely integrated program that has provided over 7,000 NYC low-income students with a quality private high school education and one-to-one mentoring support.
Rob has been a member of the University of Vermont Foundation Board since its inception in 2011. He was the inaugural Chair of the Finance and Investment Committee. Rob served on UVM’s Board of Trustees from 2012 until 2024. During his tenure he worked on various committees and work groups, including the Presidential Search Committee and for nine years chaired the Investment Sub-Committee which oversaw UVM’s endowment. Rob was part of the work group that created The University of Vermont Investment Management Company (UVIMCO) in 2023. He sits on UVIMCO’s board which has succeeded the ISC in managing UVM’s endowment.
In 2022, Rob and his wife Carolyn (UVM ’82) received the UVM Alumni Association’s Distinguished Service award. Rob earned a Bachelor of Arts from UVM in 1983 and a Master of Business Administration from New York University in 1986.
