Bob Plante is currently Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Peapack-Gladstone Bank; a NJ-based private bank founded in 1921. Born and raised in Norwich, VT, Bob graduated from UVM in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. Bob’s professional career includes executive leadership positions with GE Capital, CIT and Israel Discount Bank of New York.
The Plante family has a vibrant history with the University. Including Bob, nine of eleven Plante children attended and graduated from UVM between the years 1972 and 1985. Bob married Erin Tierney (’81) in 1993 and together they raised three children – Alice (’16), also on the UVM Foundation Board, Tim (Villanova ’18) and Owen (’20 and G’22). Bob’s father, Peter Plante, the senior legal partner at Black & Plante, was appointed to UVM’s Board of Trustees in 1975 by then Vermont governor Thomas Salmon and subsequently appointed Chairman 1979 to 1980.
Bob’s involvement in the UVM Foundation coincided with UVM’s acquisition of 61 Summit Street (Delta Psi house). Bob was an active member of Delta Psi from 1979 to 1982.
