Roger W. Crandall is chairman, president, and chief executive officer of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual), headquartered in Springfield, Mass.
During Roger’s tenure as CEO, MassMutual has grown to provide more than $950 billion in life insurance protection and strengthened its financial position by more than doubling its total adjusted capital to over $33 billion. Roger first joined MassMutual in 1988 as a real estate investment trainee and assumed broader leadership roles throughout his career, becoming president in 2008, and CEO and chairman in 2010. He takes an active leadership role in a variety of organizations, serving as deputy chair of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston Board in addition to the Business Roundtable, the Board of Directors and Executive Committee for the American Council of Life Insurers, the Smithsonian National Board, the Governing Committee for the CEO Action for Racial Equity, the Massachusetts Competitive Partnership, and the Wharton Board of Leadership Advisors.
Roger, a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), graduated from UVM with a bachelor’s degree in economics. He earned his MBA with honors from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. Roger and his wife Kiki reside in West Hartford, Connecticut, and have six grown children.
