Giving Through a Donor-Advised Fund
Some gifts make an impact today. Others shape the future.
How do I give through a donor-advised fund?
A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a popular way to support the great mission of the University of Vermont.
A donor-advised fund, DAF for short, is a unique fund or account maintained and operated by a nonprofit, or a section 501(c)(3) organization, which is called a sponsoring organization. Each account is composed of contributions made by individual donors. Once contributions are in place, the organization assumes legal control over the fund. The donor, or donor's representative, advises on where those funds will be allocated and on matters pertaining to the investment of the assets on that account.
The Process
1. Initiate your grant.
Contact your DAF sponsor (such as a community foundation or financial institution, like Vanguard or Fidelity) to recommend a grant to the UVM Foundation.
2. Select a Purpose
Let them know if your gift is for a specific program, scholarship, or area of need.
3. Provide UVM Foundation Details
They will need our legal name (UVM Foundation) and Tax ID (45-1556038).
4. Complete the Grant
Your DAF sponsor will handle the rest, ensuring your gift reaches us promptly and accurately.
